How to get your child to swim more horizontally

A big problem parents have is getting their swimmers to swim horizontally on top of the water.
There is a tendency for our swimmers to want to breath and keep their eyes above water.
But the body follows the head, and when the head is up our body has the tendency to drift downward. This means our swimmer ends up treading water more than swimming from point A to point B.
When a child is swimming like this it exerts more energy than swimming horizontally.
To have our swimmer get that nice horizontally swimming form, we have them look at the ground.
